Local SNP Representatives Hold Successful Winter Advice Surgery

MP for Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East Stuart McDonald and constituency MSP for Cumbernauld Jamie Hepburn held a successful winter advice surgery this Saturday 21st November.

Both representatives, alongside local Councillor Alan Stevenson, were joined at the event, held in Kilsyth’s Burngreen Hall, by a number of organisations running advice stalls, including Home Energy Scotland, Cumbernauld Action Care for the Elderly (CACE), the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth Unemployed Workers Centre and the Citizens Advice Bureau.

As well as providing local residents with the chance to get advice or support from their elected representatives and the above organisations, collections were also held for the Kilsyth Community Foodbank and for the on-going refugee crisis.

Commenting on the event Mr McDonald said:

“I was delighted that so many people were able to attend this event and I hope it was informative and enjoyable.

“I would urge anyone who was unable to make this event and finds themselves in need of such advice or assistance to contact me or my colleagues.”

“Many thanks to Cumbernauld & Kilsyth Unemployed Workers Centre, Energy Action Scotland, CACE and CAB for their help, and to volunteers for tea, coffee and cake.”

Mr Hepburn said:

“The Winter Advice Surgery was a fantastic event and I was happy to help facilitate it.

“With the winter now upon us, it is important that people are able to access advice about all the different types of support that is available. It was encouraging to see all these different organisations working together.”

“A special thanks goes to all those who were able to generously donate to both the foodbank and the refugee crisis appeal too.”
