The Citizens Advice Bureau is a fantastic organisation, there for us all in times of need. As an MP, I have become increasingly aware of the vital role that the Citizens Advice Bureau plays in my own constituency. Indeed my office is regularly in contact with the Citizens Advice Bureau in our efforts to help local residents.

So I am very concerned that Cumbernauld & Kilsyth Citizens Advice Bureau is currently under threat because Labour-run North Lanarkshire Council is planning to cut their funding by 40%.

This is at a time when we need the advice, expertise and support of the CAB more than ever – as the UK Government cuts welfare and pushes more and more people into desperate circumstances.

I oppose these cuts, along with my SNP colleagues. But this a decision that will be taken by North Lanarkshire Council.
