Over the past few months I have been contacted by a number of constituents struggling to get by because they have had their tax credits withheld by the firm Concentrix on the basis of completely unsubstantiated allegations around number of hours work or whether a person is still living alone. There have been some notorious examples around the UK – for example a single parent accused of living with someone called R S McColl, because that was where she was collecting benefits from the post office.

Yesterday morning I spoke about the appalling performance of Concentrix in dealing with tax credits claimants. I highlighted the ongoing problems faced by constituents that have been let down by Concentrix and called on HMRC to fully repay those who have lost out.

Because there was so much interest in the debate each MP only got two minutes – so you can watch half a speech here!
