The UK Government’s decision to end the Dubs transfer scheme for unaccompanied children is completely unacceptable .These lone child refugees are some of the most vulnerable children on earth and the Government cannot rest on its laurels on the back of minimal efforts having not nearly met its legal and moral commitments.
However, while I am deeply disappointed with the UK Governments efforts, the volunteers at Kilsyth Supporting Refugees deserves great deal of praise and thanks for all their hard work. I was delighted to hear that over four tonnes of clothing have been collected to help refugees this winter and thank you to everyone who has very kindly donated so far.
Volunteers from Cumbernauld Supporting Refugees will be also be collecting quality winter items and footwear on Monday 20th February at Condoratt Parish Church, between 10am and 2pm.
Alternatively, everyone is welcome to drop off any donations at the constituency office I share with Jamie Hepburn MSP, at 13, The Wynd during the week.
